About the series
From 2007 to 2016, Image Comics published Phonogram, a three-issue series by writer Kieron Gillen and artist Jamie McKelvie that fuses music fandom with magic. The story follows a group of self-styled "phonomancers" who draw power from pop songs, treating musical taste as both a form of identity and a source of real-world consequence. McKelvie's clean, expressive art grounds the series' supernatural conceits in a recognizably contemporary, club-hopping London scene. A cult touchstone for its inventive premise and sharp character work, Phonogram helped establish the creative duo's reputation for stylish, genre-bending storytelling.
