About the series
In this early 2000s Tokyopop series, a mysterious pet shop in Chinatown offers exotic—and often dangerous—animals to customers with hidden desires, each transaction carrying a strict contract that, if broken, leads to horrifying consequences. Based on Matsuri Akino's original manga, the English-language adaptation was scripted by Jeremiah Bourque and Tim Beedle, with art from Akino, Junemoon Studios, and Jennifer Nunn across its ten-issue run. A cult-favorite blend of horror and urban fantasy, it stands as a key example of Tokyopop's push to bring translated manga and original Western comics together in the early 2000s.
