About the series
Marjane Satrapi's graphic memoir Persepolis (Pantheon, 2003–2004) is a landmark autobiographical work that chronicles her childhood and early adult years against the backdrop of the Iranian Revolution. Told in stark, expressive black-and-white art, the series offers an intimate, often wry perspective on political upheaval, cultural change, and personal identity. Published in two volumes, it became a defining text of the graphic novel medium for bringing a deeply human, non-Western story to a global audience.
