In the early 1950s, Avon Comics published Parole Breakers, a gritty three-issue crime series that followed the exploits of a special squad tasked with tracking down escaped convicts. Anchored by the raw, dynamic artwork of Joe Kubert, alongside John Rosenberger and Syd Shores, the book delivered hard-boiled, no-nonsense justice stories typical of the era's pre-Code crime comics.
