About the series

Joe Sacco’s Palestine, published by Fantagraphics from 2001 onward, is a landmark work of graphic journalism that chronicles the artist’s firsthand experiences in the West Bank and Gaza Strip during the early 1990s. Combining meticulous reportage with expressive black-and-white art, Sacco documents the daily lives, struggles, and voices of Palestinians under occupation, as well as his own perspective as a Western observer. This single-issue series—later collected into a celebrated book—helped pioneer the use of comics as a serious medium for political and historical nonfiction.
