About the series

Clément Oubrerie and Julie Birmant’s Pablo (SelfMadeHero, 2015–present) is a vivid biographical graphic novel that traces the early life of Pablo Picasso, from his arrival in Paris as a young artist to his rise amid the bohemian ferment of Montmartre. Written by Birmant and Oubrerie, with translation by Edward Gauvin, the series uses Oubrerie’s expressive, painterly art to evoke the energy of the era and the artist’s restless creativity. Though only one issue has been published so far, it stands out for its intimate, novelistic approach to a modern master’s formative years.
