Os Biônicos is a long-running Brazilian comic series launched in 1979 by Editora Brasil-América (EBAL), adapting the popular 1970s television series The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman into a single, ongoing comic. While the series technically had no standard issue count—operating instead as a reprint and original-story anthology—it became a nostalgic staple for Brazilian readers, blending espionage, cybernetic action, and the iconic bionic heroes of the era. The title is most associated with EBAL’s house style and the translation/adaptation work of editor and writer Gérson Teixeira, who helped localize the American property for a Portuguese-speaking audience. Though short on original material, Os Biônicos remains a curious footnote in Brazilian comics history, reflecting EBAL’s role in bringing international pop culture to local newsstands.
