During the dark years of World War II, Norwegian publisher Fonna Forlag introduced a homegrown hero with Ola Nordigard, a comic series that ran for three issues from 1943 to 1946. Written primarily by Erling Moen and illustrated by Arne Wold, the strip offered readers a spirited, distinctly Norwegian protagonist at a time when the country was under occupation.
