Novelas Gráficas

A short-lived but ambitious experiment from Spanish publisher Ediciones Toray, Novelas Gráficas (1962–1963) was a five-issue series that adapted classic literary works into a graphic novel format, predating the modern term by decades. Each issue presented a complete, standalone story, blending European illustration with narrative-driven comics. The series is notable for its early attempt to elevate the medium by treating literature as source material, showcasing the artistic potential of sequential art in Spain during the early 1960s.
