Norsk Mad

From 1981 to 1994, Semic published Norsk Mad, a Norwegian-language adaptation of the legendary American humor magazine Mad that ran for 118 issues. The series brought the magazine's signature satirical bite and absurdist cartooning to a new audience, with regular contributions from Mad stalwarts like Don Martin, Paul Peter Porges, and Stan Hart as writers, and artists Angelo Torres, Bob Clarke, and Don Edwing. It stands as a key document of how Mad's irreverent, pop-culture-skewering sensibility was localized for Nordic readers during the 1980s and early '90s.
