New Testament Heroes

Standard Publishing Company brought Bible stories to the comics page with New Testament Heroes, a short-lived series from 1946 to 1947. Spanning just two issues, the title featured the artwork of Fred D. Lohman, who illustrated straightforward, reverent adaptations of key figures from the New Testament. Though brief, the series represents a mid-century effort to present religious education through the popular comic book format.
