Peter Bagge’s Neat Stuff (1985–1989, Fantagraphics) introduced the world to his signature squiggly, expressive cartooning and deadpan suburban satire. The series launched the misadventures of the Bradley family—Buddy, his mother Babs, brother Butch, and others—alongside a rotating cast of oddballs like Girly-Girl and Chuckie-Boy. Over 15 issues, Bagge honed the raw, manic energy that would define his influential run at the dawn of the alternative-comics boom.
