Nasdine Hodja

A whimsical, surreal French series from Editions du Taupinambour, Nasdine Hodja ran for six issues (2007–2012) and reimagines the folkloric trickster Nasreddin Hodja as a spacefaring, time-traveling adventurer. Known for its playful, absurdist humor and dense, imaginative artwork, the series blends Eastern folktale motifs with sci-fi and fantasy, creating a unique, cult-favorite romp through history and the cosmos. Its creative team, led by writer and artist Julien Neel, brought a distinct, offbeat charm that distinguishes it from more conventional European comics of the era.
