In the debut issue of Namta (2019–present), Komics Initiative launched a series that blends Filipino folklore with contemporary storytelling, centered on a young woman who discovers a mystical connection to a powerful, ancient entity. Written and illustrated by creator Paolo Herras, this self-contained first issue establishes a richly textured world where tradition and modernity collide. Though early in its run, the series has already drawn attention for its striking art and culturally grounded narrative, marking a distinctive voice in independent comics.
