About the series
Mystical Tales, a short-lived Marvel anthology from 1956–1957, spun eight issues of eerie, self-contained stories that leaned into the supernatural and the strange. The series is best remembered for the moody, atmospheric artwork of frequent contributors Doug Wildey, Al Williamson, and Bill Everett, with scripts largely penned by Carl Wessler. Though brief, it represents a transitional moment for the publisher, bridging the end of the 1950s horror-comics boom and the dawn of the Marvel Age.
