About the series
Avon's Murderous Gangsters (1951–1952) was a short-lived, four-issue crime comic that leaned hard into the era's pulp fascination with mob violence and lawless antiheroes. Artists Mike Becker, Moe Marcus, and Mort Lawrence brought a gritty, shadow-drenched style to these tales of racketeers, heists, and double-crosses, typical of the pre-Code crime genre. Though brief, the series stands as a raw, unvarnished artifact of the early 1950s, when crime comics were at their most lurid before the Comics Code Authority tightened its grip.
