About the series
In the mid-2000s, Italian creators Alessandro Barbucci and Barbara Canepa brought Monster Allergy to Hjemmet/Egmont, a whimsically eerie series following young Zick, a boy with the unique ability to see and communicate with the monsters that lurk unseen around us. Over its 15-issue run, the comic blended childhood adventure with a gentle, spooky mythology, as Zick and his friends navigated a world where everyday objects and shadows hid mischievous creatures. Known for its lush, storybook-style art and heartfelt tone, the series carved a niche as a charming European import that made the monstrous feel friendly and the ordinary fantastically strange.
