About the series
A lavishly illustrated French periodical from Hachette, Mon Journal (1881–1892) offered young readers a mix of serialized fiction, educational features, and pioneering comic strips. Though its run spanned over a decade, only three issues survive in comic form, primarily the work of writer-artist Georges Colomb (under the pen name Christophe) alongside Eugène Le Mouël. This title is best remembered as the birthplace of Colomb’s beloved character La Famille Fenouillard, whose sequential panels helped shape the early language of French bande dessinée. It stands as a charming, historically significant snapshot of 19th-century children’s publishing and the dawn of the modern comic strip.
