Mon Beauf'

A short-lived but fondly remembered French comic series from Éditions du Square, Mon Beauf' (1976–1981) ran for just three issues, each built around the satirical, mustachioed everyman character created by beloved cartoonist Cabu. With Cabu's signature loose, lively line and sharp social commentary, the series lampooned the archetypal French "beauf"—a narrow-minded, jingoistic, and reactionary figure—turning him into a mirror for the country's political and cultural absurdities of the 1970s. Though brief, Mon Beauf' remains a key artifact of Cabu's irreverent, humanist humor and the golden age of French satirical comics.
