Misty

A short-lived but fondly remembered Brazilian reprint series, Misty (1986–1987) from Editora Abril offered nine issues of translated horror and suspense comics, drawing primarily from the original British anthology of the same name. While the title character, a mysterious young girl with supernatural connections, anchored the book, it also featured a rotating cast of eerie stories and chilling artwork. The series is best associated with editor and translator Sonia Luyten, who helped bring these British-style frights to a Portuguese-speaking audience. Though brief, Misty stands as a curious and culturally specific artifact of the 1980s comic import boom in Brazil.
