Mighty Man

Mighty Man, published by Afri-Comics (later Xanap) from 1976 to 1978, is a pioneering 17-issue series that introduced one of the first Black superheroes in a starring role. Created by a team including writer/artist Don Perlin, the title blended classic superhero action with culturally resonant storytelling, offering a powerful, dignified hero for a community long underserved by mainstream comics. Its brief but impactful run stands as a landmark in independent and African-American comics history, proving that diverse heroes could command their own adventures.
