About the series
During the mid-1960s, Archie Comics launched Mighty Comics, an 11-issue series that attempted to ride the superhero boom by reviving their classic, campy heroes. Writer Jerry Siegel and artist Paul Reinman were the most frequent creative team, steering a lineup that included the Shield and the Fly. Though short-lived, the series represents a fascinating, playful footnote in Archie's publishing history, as the company briefly shifted focus from Riverdale's hijinks to capes and cowls.
