About the series
In the early 2000s, CrossGen introduced Meridian, a lush fantasy series set on a world of floating islands, where a young woman inherits a mysterious sigil that grants her control over a powerful energy source. Written primarily by Barbara Kesel and Chuck Dixon, with art by Steve McNiven, Vincenzo Cucca, and June Brigman, the 44-issue run explores themes of power, responsibility, and rebellion against a tyrannical uncle. A cornerstone of CrossGen’s interconnected Sigilverse, Meridian is remembered for its strong heroine, vibrant world-building, and McNiven’s early, striking penciling work.
