About the series
This five-issue series from Dutch publisher Oog & Blik (1999–2002) follows the quiet, everyday life of the title character, Meneer Johan, in a slice-of-life European comic tradition. The series is most associated with the acclaimed French duo Dupuy & Berberian (Philippe Dupuy and Charles Berberian), who handled both writing and art, with occasional scripting contributions from Mat Schifferstein. A charming, understated work from the turn of the millennium, it showcases the duo's signature warm, observational style and their ability to find depth in the mundane.
