About the series

The unfinished graphic novel Me and the Devil Blues (Random House, 2008–present) reimagines the legendary crossroads deal of bluesman Robert Johnson, following a young African-American guitarist who trades his soul for musical mastery in the Jim Crow South. Created by writer/artist Hideshi Hino, this dark, visually arresting series blends historical fiction with supernatural horror, exploring race, artistry, and damnation. Though only two issues were published, its striking black-and-white artwork and uncompromising narrative have earned it a cult reputation as a haunting meditation on the price of genius.
