Max and Maurice, A Juvenile History in Seven Tricks

Originally published in 1899 by Little, Brown, this classic comic tale by German artist and writer Wilhelm Busch follows the mischievous pranks of two young boys, Max and Maurice, in a series of seven vignettes. Translated into English by Charles Timothy Brooks, the book is a foundational work of sequential art, its darkly humorous, rhymed narrative and expressive illustrations influencing generations of cartoonists.
