About the series
Master Comics, a long-running series launched in 1942 by Cleland, is best known for its 50-issue run featuring a rotating cast of Golden Age heroes and adventure tales. The series is most associated with the creative team of writer/artist John B. Wentworth and penciler Charles Nicholas, who delivered energetic, pulp-inspired stories that defined the era's patriotic and sci-fi sensibilities. Though it began as a standard anthology, the title gained significance for its consistent, high-quality artwork and its role in showcasing lesser-known characters during the wartime boom of comic publishing.
