About the series
From 1975 to 1982, Marvel teamed with Hostess snacks for a unique series of single-page ads disguised as mini-comics, starring the company’s top heroes in quick, whimsical capers. Over 70 installments, artists like Sal Buscema, Alan Kupperberg, and Ross Andru depicted Spider-Man, Captain America, and Daredevil (among others) thwarting petty crimes with a distinctly sweet-toothed twist. Though brief, these ads became a beloved period curiosity, capturing the era's playful, low-stakes superheroics and the charming absurdity of a Twinkie-powered rescue.
