Mark Hazzard: Merc
Marvel · 1986–1987 · 12 issues
About the series
From 1986 to 1987, Marvel Comics published Mark Hazzard: Merc, a gritty 12-issue series that followed the titular soldier of fortune through morally ambiguous, action-heavy missions. Written most often by Doug Murray and Peter David, with artwork by Gray Morrow, Alan Kupperberg, and Sam de la Rosa, the book stood out for its realistic, post-Vietnam War tone and its focus on the psychological toll of mercenary work. It remains a notable, if brief, entry in Marvel's mid-80s push for more mature, character-driven adventure comics.
