About the series
In the early 2000s, Viz Media brought Haruhiko Mikimoto’s distinctive character designs to American readers with Marionette Generation, a five-issue miniseries blending sci-fi and emotional drama. Written primarily by Annette Roman, Kaori Inoue, and Mikimoto himself, with art by Mikimoto and Dan Nakrosis, the story explores the bond between a young man and a lifelike android in a near-future world. Though brief, the series stands as a notable English-language adaptation of Mikimoto’s work, showcasing his signature style outside of his more famous anime and manga projects.
