In the mid-1990s, Marvel's Ultraverse introduced Mantra, a fantasy-action series that ran for eight issues. Created by a team including writers Mike W. Barr, Jerald DeVictoria, and Tom Mason, with art by Dave Roberts, Henry Martinez, and Joyce Chin, the book followed a centuries-old male sorcerer reborn in the body of a female superhero.
