About the series
From 1999 to 2005, Antarctic Press published Mangazine, a 71-issue anthology that showcased the publisher's signature blend of Western storytelling and manga-inspired art. Most frequently written by Fred Perry and Ted Nomura, and illustrated by artists including Joseph Wight, David Hutchison, and Perry himself, the series served as a launchpad for original characters and series in the American manga boom of the early 2000s. Its run captured a pivotal moment when indie publishers brought a distinct, action-driven energy to the growing "Amerimanga" movement.
