Mangazine

From 1985 to 1986, Antarctic Press launched Mangazine, a five-issue comic series that helped pioneer the American manga-influenced indie scene. Anchored by the energetic talents of Frank Castillo, Ben Dunn, and Mike Cogliandro, with art from Castillo, Tommy Pons, and Dunn, it blended Western storytelling with Japanese-inspired visuals. Though brief, this early experiment laid groundwork for the publisher’s later cult hits and remains a touchstone for fans of 1980s alternative comics.
