About the series
Mandrakov Magazin, launched in 1978 by the Yugoslav publisher Dečje novine, ran for just eight issues but left a lasting mark on the region's comic landscape. The series is best remembered for its title character, a mysterious, globe-trotting vigilante in a distinctive black costume, and for the vivid, dynamic artwork of its primary artist and co-creator, Branislav Kerac. Though short-lived, the magazin's blend of pulp adventure and striking visual style helped define an era of Yugoslav comics, cementing Mandrakov as a cult favorite among readers.
