Madgermanes

In 2016, Birgit Weyhe launched Madgermanes for avant-verlag, a single-issue graphic novel that explores the lives of Mozambican contract workers in East Germany. Weyhe, who both wrote and illustrated the book, weaves a quietly powerful narrative about displacement, memory, and the lingering bonds between two cultures.
