About the series
From 1985 onward, the Matrix Graphic Series published MacKenzie Queen, a short but distinctive five-issue run that blended espionage and science fiction with a Canadian sensibility. The series is best known for the work of writer/artist Bernie Mireault, who collaborated with Jacques Boivin, Mark Shainblum, Gabriel Morrissette, and BEM to tell the adventures of its resourceful title character. Its matter-of-fact, character-driven approach to high-concept genre storytelling helped establish a unique voice for alternative Canadian comics in the mid-1980s.
