About the series
Morris’s beloved Western comedy series Lucky Luke ran for 31 albums at Dupuis from 1949 to 1967, with the legendary René Goscinny joining as primary writer partway through to sharpen its satirical edge. The strip follows a lonesome, fast-drawing cowboy who “shoots faster than his shadow,” mixing slapstick gags with affectionate parodies of American frontier myths. Morris’s clean, expressive ligne claire art and Goscinny’s witty scripts turned the series into a cornerstone of Franco-Belgian comics, celebrated for its timeless charm and gentle mockery of the Old West.
