Louisiana, la couleur du sang

About the series
In this compact, three-issue series from Dargaud, writer Léa Chrétien and artist Gontran Toussaint explore the simmering tensions of 1920s Louisiana, where racial violence and deep-seated prejudice erupt against a backdrop of jazz and bayou heat. The story follows a Black musician caught in a web of suspicion after a white woman is murdered, forcing him to navigate a justice system built to condemn him. Chrétien’s taut, character-driven script pairs with Toussaint’s atmospheric, ink-washed art to deliver a stark, moody meditation on guilt, identity, and the corrosive legacy of segregation. It’s a potent, self-contained crime drama that uses its limited run to maximum effect.
