Lobisomem

In the late 1960s, Brazilian publisher GEP unleashed Lobisomem, a horror comic that ran for 20 issues and became a cult touchstone of the country's comics scene. The series centered on the tragic werewolf protagonist, blending gothic atmosphere with local folklore and visceral monster-of-the-issue storytelling. Most closely associated with the work of writer and artist Jayme Cortez, the title stood out for its moody, expressive art and unflinching approach to the macabre. Lobisomem remains a key artifact of Brazilian horror comics, showcasing a unique national take on the Universal monster archetype.
