About the series
From 2001 to 2002, the German publisher Carlsen Comics released Little Lit, a two-issue comic series that stands as a playful, international anthology of short stories for young readers. Curated by Art Spiegelman and Françoise Mouly, the project brought together a remarkable roster of cartoonists and children's book illustrators—including Jules Feiffer, Maurice Sendak, and Kaz—to create inventive, all-ages tales that blurred the line between picture book and comic art. Though brief, the series is notable for its high-caliber, cross-cultural collaboration and its celebration of the comic medium as a natural storytelling form for children.
