Li'l Abner

Al Capp’s beloved hillbilly satire Li’l Abner returned for a second life in the 1950s with this 12-issue series from Superior, collecting and repackaging classic newspaper strips. Written and drawn primarily by Capp himself, with additional art by Mel Lazarus, these issues preserve the wild, affectionate lampooning of Dogpatch, USA, and its iconic, well-meaning lummox of a hero. Though brief, this run helped cement the strip’s legacy as a sharp, enduring slice of mid-century American humor.
