Les enquêtes d'Edmund Bell
Lefrancq · 1987–1993 · 5 issues
About the series
In the late 1980s, Belgian publisher Lefrancq revived the pulp detective Edmund Bell for a five-issue comic series, scripting his grim investigations from the work of John Flanders. Writer Jacques Stoquart and artist René Follet brought a moody, period-appropriate atmosphere to these European adventures, with Follet's lush, realistic linework defining the series' look. A niche but stylish revival of a classic character, it stands as a notable example of Francophone bande dessinée adapting vintage crime fiction.
