Le Lombric

From 1999 to the present, Stéphane Blanquet’s Le Lombric has been a singular, ongoing project from the French publisher Cornélius, spanning just a single issue so far. Blanquet both writes and illustrates this surreal, wordless comic, which follows the titular earthworm through a strange, dreamlike world of metamorphosis and dark whimsy. Its sparse, deliberate release schedule and unique vision make it a cult object among fans of avant-garde bande dessinée.
