Le Fulgur
In this short-lived but visually striking 2017–2018 series from French publisher Soleil, Le Fulgur follows a lone figure known only as the Fulgur, a being of immense electrical power who emerges from a mysterious accident. Across three issues, the story unfolds as a haunting, atmospheric exploration of identity and consequence, set against a bleak, rain-slicked European landscape. The series is most associated with writer and artist Mathieu Bablet, whose moody, cinematic art style and minimalist storytelling gave the book a distinctive, slow-burn tension. Though brief, Le Fulgur stands as a compact example of Bablet's early, self-contained work in science fiction, showcasing his ability to build a world and character with remarkable economy.
