In the early 1980s, French publisher Greantori revived the pulp spirit with Le Fantôme du Bengale, a six-issue miniseries that reimagined the classic jungle adventurer. This European take on the Phantom mythos blended exotic adventure with a moody, atmospheric art style, standing apart from the more mainstream American superhero comics of the era.
