Le Décaméron

In 1991, Belgian publisher Lefrancq launched Le Décaméron, a single-issue graphic novel adaptation of Boccaccio’s classic 14th-century story collection. This ambitious work translates the bawdy, humanist tales of the original Decameron into the sequential art of comics, offering a visually rich interpretation of a foundational literary text. Though the series concluded after its debut issue, it stands as a notable example of European literary adaptation in the bande dessinée tradition.
