Lash LaRue Western

From 1949 to 1950, Bell Features published eight issues of Lash LaRue Western, a short-lived comic series starring the whip-cracking cowboy actor. The book’s covers and interiors relied on photographic reproductions rather than traditional comic art, giving it a distinctive, pulp-magazine look. Though brief, the series captured the tail end of the Western craze in postwar comics, with Lash LaRue himself a B-movie star whose on-screen persona translated directly to the page. It remains a niche but curious artifact of the era’s cross-media synergy.
