La Revue comique

A short-lived but lively Parisian comic weekly, La Revue comique (1848–1849) offered a satirical mirror to the tumult of the Second Republic over its 38-issue run from publisher Dumineray. The series is most closely associated with the caricaturist and writer Nadar, who both translated and contributed original material, alongside the regular artist Lorentz and writer Carl Reinhardt. Though brief, it stands as a spirited example of the early French comic press, capturing the political and social fizz of its era through the sharp, playful linework of its artists.
