About the series
From 1950 to 1965, Le Lombard published La collection du Lombard, a 64-issue series of hardcover albums that collected some of the publisher’s most celebrated newspaper strips. The series is most closely associated with Edgar P. Jacobs, whose Blake et Mortimer adventures dominate the run, though it also features work by other key Lombard creators. By repackaging these serialized stories into durable albums, the series helped define the European bande dessinée album format and introduced generations of readers to classic Franco-Belgian adventure comics.
