La Caricature
Tallandier · 1880–1888 · 37 issues
About the series
A satirical weekly from Parisian publisher Tallandier, La Caricature (1880–1888) skewered Third Republic politics and society through 37 issues of sharp, illustrated humor. The series is most associated with the prolific Albert Robida, who both wrote and drew its pages alongside regular contributors Maurice Radiguet, Charly, and Job. It matters as a lively, pre-fin de siècle record of French visual satire, blending Robida’s fantastical imagination with the era’s caustic editorial cartooning.
